UNP yesterday threatened to take legal action against the government if it did not present the budget for 2010.
The party’s  Matara district parliamentarian Sagala Ratnayake said Deputy Finance Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya had in a recent statement guaranteed the House that the government would present the budget for 2010.
 “According to conditions under which the government opted for the IMF loan, it’s essential to present the 2010 budget. If the government fails to implement this action, the government will be denied of the third installment of the IMF loan.” Mr. Ratnayake said.
He firmly rejected statement that the 2010 budget should not be presented as a new Cabinet was expected to be appointed after the next General Election.
